I’ve been working with Rails for almost two years now and have built ten or so applications from start to finish. In addition, I run a Rails hosting company for a large number of customers. One of those customers is Rubyforge as we are a files and gems mirror and soon will be hosting the ViewVC part of Rubyforge.
Rails configuration and deployment are often a trouble spot for new Rails developers. In this presentation I’ll explain the various hosting options available in the market place, using capistrano, setting up staging environments and scaling out Rails. I’ll specifically be covering Apache, Lighttpd, Mongrel, subversion and MySQL including the clustering of these systems.
